Why Choose Fenix Group?

We know how difficult it can be to find the right support for a loved one with a developmental disability. You want to make the best possible choice — and you deserve a team that understands your journey. At Fenix Group, we walk alongside families every step of the way, offering high-quality services built on compassion, respect, and trust.

Where to Start

Beginning this journey can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Your loved one’s doctor, social worker, or case manager can help you understand what types of services might be most helpful and can share a list of local programs that provide those supports.

Our Mission

At Fenix Group, we are dedicated to uplifting individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them grow, connect, and pursue their personal goals. Our programs focus on building independence, encouraging self-advocacy, strengthening social skills, and preparing for future employment. Working together with families, caregivers, and community partners, we strive to create opportunities that inspire lifelong success.

Our Beliefs

At Fenix Group, we believe that everyone’s unique qualities should be celebrated. We are dedicated to empowering the individuals we serve to achieve their personal goals. Our motto, “Rising to Success,” reflects our commitment to nurturing, encouraging, and educating every participant.

We provide exciting, creative programs for both children and adults. Our adult day and vocational programs, along with children’s after-school and summer programs, are designed to help individuals leverage their strengths, foster independence, and grow through positive reinforcement and guided learning. We continually develop supportive programs to enhance our members’ abilities and prepare them for future accomplishments.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new licensing department for adult and child developmental homes. This program is an exciting addition to our agency, and we are committed to supporting you through every step of the licensing process. Our team will also be your ongoing partner as you provide care in your home. We offer competitive rates and referral bonuses, and we look forward to helping you make a meaningful impact in the lives of those you serve.

Making the Decision

Consider everything you experienced during your initial contact, on your tour, and from your observations. Check your notes; compare the benefits, services, and amenities that each facility has to offer; and consider the financial information. You’ll also want to think about the building location, travel times, transportation options, and how the facility handles an emergency.

Ultimately, choosing the right care setting is a decision that can only be made by you, and Fenix Group hopes you are able to find the facility that is best for you or your loved one, even if it’s not with us.

Children’s After School and Summer Program (DTT)

At Fenix Group, we maintain low staff-to-client ratios — typically 1 staff member for every 4 clients — with one-to-one support provided when needed. Each child’s individual goals and needs are matched to our program offerings, ensuring every client can reach their potential. Success is found in the process of working together, and every step of progress is celebrated.

Program Overview
Our After School Day Treatment & Training (DTT) Program is specifically designed for school-aged children, ages 7 to 17, with developmental disabilities. This program provides a supportive environment where young clients can learn, grow, and explore their abilities. Activities range from homework help and physical exercise to social skills practice and creative arts, all designed to develop gross and fine motor skills, communication, grooming, and more. Skill enrichment is a core part of helping each child meet their personal goals.

Sample Activities Include:

  • Computer lab
  • Community field trips (library, mall, movies, etc.)
  • Cooking and nutrition classes
  • Music experience
  • Artistic expression and creative projects

With patience, encouragement, and individualized support, Fenix Group helps children gain confidence, build skills, and achieve their goals in a safe, nurturing environment.

A Word About Goals & Transitions

At Fenix Group, we recognize that goals are highly individual and evolve with each client’s age, experiences at home and school, and emerging personal preferences. As teens approach adulthood, they face increasingly complex challenges. With guidance from family, friends, and our team, teen clients (approximately ages 17 to 22) work toward personal goals while developing essential independent living skills.

Goals May Include:

  • Personal grooming habits
  • Getting dressed independently, including buttoning shirts, tying shoelaces, and more
  • Making purchases in a store and handling money
  • Developing healthy peer relationships
  • Basic cooking skills

Developmental Home Program

Fenix Group’s Developmental Home Program supports providers in obtaining and maintaining a license to care for adults or children with developmental disabilities in their homes.

We are committed to guiding you every step of the licensing process, addressing any questions, concerns, or challenges along the way. Our goal is to be your primary support, ensuring quality care for both our members and our home providers.

Adult Developmental Home (ADH)

Adult Developmental Home (ADH) providers open their homes to individuals over 18 with developmental disabilities, welcoming them as part of the family.

Providers focus on teaching independent living and life skills to help each member achieve a life that is as independent and fulfilling as possible. They also support individual needs, including medication management, appointment reminders, and monitoring dietary requirements, ensuring each resident receives personalized care in a safe and nurturing environment.

Child Developmental Home (CDH)

Child Developmental Home (CDH) providers care for children under 18 who are unable to live with their biological families for various reasons. These providers open their homes to children with developmental disabilities, offering a loving, stable, and nurturing environment. CDH providers help ensure stability for children while they are separated from their families or awaiting adoption.

At Fenix Group, we are committed to supporting both providers and children, fostering a strong foundation for success. We emphasize teamwork and provide ongoing guidance and resources to ensure that our Developmental Home Providers have the support they need to create positive, enriching experiences for the children in their care.

Transportation Services

Fenix Group provides transportation for clients to and from our programs using a fleet of vehicles ranging from minivans to specially equipped vans and buses.

For families and homes without transportation authorization through the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), we also offer a private pay transportation option to ensure safe and reliable access to our programs.

Special Olympics

Fenix Group is proud to participate in Special Olympics year-round. Our clients engage in a variety of sports, including softball, soccer, basketball, flag football, bowling, and cheerleading. Participation in sports helps develop new skills, boosts self-confidence, and enhances social abilities.

Special Olympics Arizona offers meaningful training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, including age-appropriate activities and options for lower ability athletes. Participants can compete at levels suited to their abilities, ensuring an inclusive and rewarding experience.

Beyond sports, Special Olympics teaches valuable life skills. Training improves focus, builds perseverance, and reinforces goal-setting, endurance, and teamwork. Notably, over half (52%) of adult Special Olympics athletes in the U.S. are employed, compared with just 10% of adults with intellectual disabilities who do not participate, highlighting the program’s broader impact on independence and community engagement.

Aktion Club

The Aktion Club is a community-service organization composed of adult citizens living with disabilities. Sponsored by the Litchfield Kiwanis Club, which is made up of local business and professional leaders, the club’s mission is to provide adults with disabilities opportunities to develop initiative and leadership, serve their community, integrate into society, and demonstrate their dignity and value.

The Aktion Club of Avondale was established in the summer of 2013 with 31 charter members—21 from Fenix Group and 10 adult students from the Agua Fria Union High School District. The club meets weekly on Friday mornings at Fenix Group, following the same structured meeting format as the Litchfield Kiwanis Club. It is one of only two Aktion Clubs in Maricopa County.

Members actively volunteer and give back to the community, participating in initiatives such as:

  • Volunteering at Hope’s Closet, a thrift store supporting the New Life Center, which provides refuge and care for over 1,200 women and children annually
  • Community outreach projects, including stuffing 100 backpacks with school supplies for children in need
  • Beautification efforts, such as repainting local fire hydrants

Through these activities, Aktion Club members gain leadership experience, develop new skills, and make meaningful contributions to their community.

Making the Decision
When it comes time to choose a program, consider everything you observed during your initial contact, your tour, and your follow-up notes. Compare the benefits, services, and amenities offered by each facility, and take financial considerations into account. Also think about practical factors like location, travel time, transportation options, and how the facility handles emergencies.

Ultimately, the decision is a personal one, and only you can determine the best fit for your loved one. At Fenix Group, our hope is that you find the program that meets your needs — even if it’s not ours — and that it provides the support, care, and opportunities your loved one deserves.
